DETAIL SPECIFICATION
ALUMINUM ALLOY ARMOR, 2219, ROLLED PLATE AND DIE FORGED SHAPES
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and
Agencies of the Department of Defense.
1.
SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification covers aluminum alloy 2219 armor rolled
plate and die forged shapes from 3/4 inch up to and including 4 inches in
thickness.
1.2 Weldability. Alloy 2219 is weldable to itself and other alloys of
the 2000 series, but not to alloys of 5083 type materials and aluminum-zinc-
magnesium series by present welding techniques.
1.3 Classification. Material furnished under this specification should
be one of the following types and tempers:
Rolled plate - T851
Die forged shapes - T852

2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are specified in
sections 3 and 4 of this specification. This section does not include
documents in other sections of this specification or recommended for
additional information or as examples. While every effort has been made to
ensure the completeness of this list, document users are cautioned that they
