3.4 Ballistic requirements. Each ballistic test plate or test forging
shall be proof fired for resistance to penetration by determining a ballistic
limit protection, BL(P), using the applicable projectiles and obliquities
shown in tables A-I, A-II, A-III and A-IV of Appendix A. The minimum
requirements shall be based on the measured thickness and shall be as
specified in these tables.
3.5 Stress-corrosion resistance. When stress corrosion testing is
specified in the contract or order (see 6.2), plate 0.75 inch and greater in
thickness shall be resistant to stress corrosion cracking, with 3 out of 3
specimens showing no evidence of cracking at the end of 10 days.
3.6 Thermal processing. Heat treatment shall conform to the requirements
of AMS 2750 and AMS 2772 and shall be such as to enable the material to meet
the requirements of these specifications.
3.7
Dimensions.
(See 6.2.)
3.7.1 Rolled plate. Size of plate shall be as specified in the
invitation for bids, contract or order (see 6.2).
3.7.2 Forgings. The forgings shall conform to the shape and dimensions
on the drawings within any variations stated therein.
3.7.3 Tolerances, rolled plate. Unless otherwise specified in the
contract or order (see 6.2), the plate submitted for production acceptance
shall not vary from the specified dimensions, plus and minus, or from true
straightness of edges by an amount greater than the tolerances shown for
lengths, width, squareness, flatness and lateral bow as specified in
ANSI H35.2.
3.7.3.1 Thickness. Tolerance in thickness of rolled plate material shall
be as shown in table III.
